THURMAN COUCH - Photographer
Trained in psychotherapy and family counseling, Thurman Couch took up the camera in his search for a creative enterprise that would complement his practice. A regular hiker and amateur naturalist, Thurman began to document the landscape and the Earth, learning to see beyond the surface into the spiritual realm of meaning. This has led him into studies of varied subjects and habitats. In addition to weekly outings in local wild areas, he plans several trips each year for new work. Past journeys include California's national parks, the Washington and Oregon coasts, southern Arizona, and camping in the Grand Canyon. In 2004 he is visiting the Cental American countries of Costa Rica and Honduras for images of the rainforests and coastal islands. Photography has become therapeutic, stimulating the recognition of the beauty in nature. Working with the previous "natural" models and themes for UndamagedGoods.com has opened up yet another dimension of experience; portraiture has become a recent interest promising more discovery of natural beauty. |
